I took a short summer break from the blog and decided to be more present with my loved ones. I usually find myself at all kinds of events during the summer and report back here to let you get a sneak peek inside of these events. Well this summer I decided to create the same kind of fun with the people I love but I didn’t wait for any invitations to any fancy or exclusive events. I have to say, this way of thinking really served me well because it reminded me that my life is already so full of fun activities and I don’t need to wait on any invites from PR reps or other Influencer’s to have it
I know summer is long over but it’s never too late to take a look back and cherish the time spent celebrating friendship, love and new experiences! So let’s do this!
My girlfriends and I were celebrating something like 25 years of friendship and decided to bring in this monumental occasion by celebrating in Palm Springs. I mean really what better way to honor the fact that we’ve put up with each other through babies, break ups, marriages, moves cross-country, petty arguments, loyalty and love then holing ourselves up in fantastically chic house for a weekend? We NEVER left the property the entire time! We cooked for one another (I even made a dish if you can believe that) laughed, reminisced, talked deeply and just had a really good time. Here are some flicks from that trip and the beautiful house we stayed in.
One of my besties got married in Cabo this summer which was the perfect time for LaJon and I to go on our first trip together. I’m happy to say that we had the BEST time!
I think my house karma this summer was on point because the house that my friends and I got to share for the wedding festivities was gorgeous! The property contained two, 2-bedroom houses and 1 Casita, an infinity pool and a deck with killer sunrises overlooking the Cabo sky. The cherry on top of my already perfectly crafted Cabo cake is that the home came with a personal chef! We walked into the house to the aroma of fajita, tacos, quesadillas and were greeted by our chef with a tray of margarita’s.
Cabo was the perfect way to celebrate new love this summer. Here are the pictures…
I wasn’t quite ready to get off vacation mode when we got back from Cabo and Labor Day was fast approaching so LaJon and I packed up again and decided to do a weekend staycation in Newport Beach. After spending time in Cabo with the all of my friends, I wanted us to spend one on one time with each other driving up to Newport was the perfect opportunity to do that.
We got a chance to explore downtown Newport and hit up super cute brunch spot Tupelo Junction Cafe, where we enjoyed a killer mimosa and a crab claw Bloody Mary. From there we walked around and explored Newport Beach and fell into a dive bar to shoot some pool. My favorite thing to do when I’m in a new place is to walk around on foot and experience it from outside of your car.
I think my favorite thing about our little impromptu staycation was our hotel . It was close to so many cute restaurants and bars and I just adored the beachy vibe and decor.
The only other thing I knew I wanted to do over the weekend besides get some bonding time with LJ was to sit by a pool with a cocktail in hand. Well the Renaissance delivered! While it wasn’t my favorite pool to have ever been to, it did have life-size Jenga and Connect Four, which was the perfect opportunity for LJ and I to let our competitive natures out .
For many years I sat on the sidelines and watched my friends attend the Veuve Cliquot polo match. I always thought the event was super exclusive and you had to be personally invited. I had no idea however, that tickets were sold on EventBrite and the only exclusivity about the event was the VIP section that was miles away across the polo field. So when a group of my friends suggested we all go to this years event I thought it would be the perfect time to experience what I’d only read and heard about first hand.
Veuve is hands down my favorite champagne so I knew if the event was as fabulous as the champagne it would be worth the ticket. I immediately noticed that fashion played as much of a role at this event as the polo match itself because everyone was dressed to impress! From perfectly patterned and tailored suits to huge Kentucky Derby style hats, everyone’s fashion game was uniquely on display with a bottle of Veuve as the perfect accessory.
Art has played a huge role in my life recently (which should probably come as no surprise since I’m dating an artist) so I find myself surrounded by and being inspired by a ton of creatives. The nude art show had to be my favorite art event this summer. My friend Susie and LaJon were among the featured artists and the pieces ranged from body art, stenciling, and sculpture. There were even live models posing for artists to paint while they were at the event.
There were so many more memorable parts of the summer. From discovering The Breakfast Bar which has quickly become my favorite new brunch in Long Beach, traveling adventures with LaJon and celebrating my friends birthdays-there was a lot on my social calendar. I’m looking forward to even more fun events this Fall and Winter and will do better about keeping you abreast of the goings on in my life and around the city.
So what did you get into this summer? I’d love to know in the comments below.
