The beginning of June has to be one of my favorite times of year. It symbolizes new beginnings in so many ways. From graduation ceremonies to the anticipation for the start of summer, June is all about the excitement of what’s to come. The Kia Sorento was the perfect ride to test drive for this very reason because I had so much to celebrate and look forward to, so I wanted to do it in style and comfort.
Christina or “StudyStina” as I affectionately call her because of the tireless hours she spent studying even when all of her friends were out partying (sometimes in the next room), was my first stop in the car. She was finally graduating from nursing school so it meant the world to me to be able to celebrate her hard work at her nurse pinning ceremony.
I’d never been to a nurse pinning ceremony and I have to admit I got a bit teary eyed during the whole thing. The tradition is that before the day of the ceremony, students are asked to choose a significant person in their life to dedicate their pin to. This person could be a faculty member, a parent, a friend – anyone that has had a significant impact on their life and their education. On the day of the ceremony, the person of significance accompanies the graduate on stage. A faculty member hands that person a pin, and they in turn place the pin on the graduate to show they have accepted the graduate’s dedication. During the process, a faculty member will read the dedication from the student to the special person(s). Seeing mothers pin their sons, and husbands their wives and vice versa was super emotional because I can just imagine all the sacrifice that was made to get to that point. Knowing how hard Christina worked and how important it was to have the support of her family and friends really struck a chord with me as well and I felt honored that she invited me to be there to witness this. I also work at a hospital and know how important nurses are to patient care, so seeing new bright-eyed, excited nurses was truly heartwarming. Seeing my friend who is so passionate about being a nurse and who has worked super hard to become one was the cherry on top.
Next we were off to Christina’s graduation party, and party we did! I had to get a few pictures of her dessert table because I loved the way her sister incorporated the medical theme throughout her decor. My favorites were her flu jello shots and urine sample jello cups.
It was also great to get all of us girls together to celebrate our friend. There was so much love in the room, I felt like it was not only a graduation celebration but a celebration of life and love.
If graduating from nursing school and having a kick ass party wasn’t enough, there were other surprises in store for StudyStina. Her boyfriend had reached out to me months before the party and asked for my assistance with planning the event because he had a huge question to ask her and he wanted it to go off without a hitch.
Yep, you guessed it, he proposed, and she said YES!!! I mean does life get any more awesome than that?!?!? Graduation from nursing school, a graduation party to end all parties, a proposal from the love of your life and your friends and family all there to wish you well…Christina you just had the BEST week EVER!
As if all that weren’t amazing enough, I was invited to attend my first concert of the season at the Hollywood Bowl for their annual Playboy Jazz Festival. The Hollywood Bowl has to be my favorite concert venue in all of Los Angeles. It sits atop the Hollywood Hills away from all the noise and smog, has the best acoustics of any venue I’ve been to and you’re allowed to bring in food and drinks with absolutely NO issues! It’s my favorite thing to do and I’m already signed up for 3 more concerts before the summers up.
Thank God I had the Kia Sorento because I was NON stop this whole weekend. From shuttling people around, packing my Hollywood Bowl treats and wanting to do so in the ever aesthetically critical Los Angeles I was super thankful to have this car.
This car is the epitome of luxury! Here is a run down of the stand out bells and whistles
- Seat warmers
- A sun roof that runs the ENTIRE length of the car
- Rear, front and TOP( yes there is an actual camera on the top of the car) facing camera
- Super clear and crisp sound system
- Quick takeoff and handles like a dream
- Sleek body and modern interior
- TONS of space! No really there are 3 rows of seats in this beauty. Perfect for shuttling your friends around who are constantly on their phones or doing their makeup 🙂
- Pretty good gas mileage for a truck at 28 MPGs
- All that car space AND this trunk space?!?!? Hello LOVAH!
So as you can see I’ve got nothin but love for the Kia Sorento. I think it’s the perfect car for families not wanting to go over to the dark side that is the family van. It’s all parts chic, luxurious and practical!
So tell me guys, how are you anticipating spending your summer and what do you think of the Kia Sorento? I’d love to know in the comments below!

Yass to the Kia it’s a great grab your girls and go type of car. I love the back up camera as I think that should be standard in every single car made. I have noticed in some newer cars that their aren’t any cd players I wonder if that will be the new norm?

We’re in the market for a new car but to be honest we;ve never contemplated a Kia. I keep hearing such amazing things about these cars! My husband is a little partial to his preferred brand so I might have to find a way to convince him to give Kia a chance 😉
