It’s no secret that I love to entertain. Whether it be a large or intimate party, I just love having people over to my home for drinks, good food and lovely company. So when Castello Cheese asked me to taste test their new line of cheese I thought what better way to try it out than with my girls for a movie night. Follow these easy tips for your next girls night in.
I’m all about easy to execute parties, and one of the ways I do that is by creating dishes that are simple to make. No dish is more simple than a meat and cheese tray. While they’re easy to execute, they come out looking super fancy when you arrange them right.
I got two blue cheeses from Castello and before you judge me for offering two blues, it’s important to note that Castello Blue Cheese actually come in a variety of flavors and strengths. The tasting notes range from tangy and sharp to sweet and floral. Honestly it was truly like a burst of flavors in your mouth!
The guest list was small so I didn’t want to overwhelm the ladies with an abundance of food, plus watching a movie after eating a heavy meal usually makes you sleepy so I kept my menu simple. Here’s my list..
- Castello Cheese (Danish Blue & Bleu Nobel)
- Crackers
- Salami
- Pickled Veggies
- Garlic Mushrooms
- Spicy Peppers
I knew the cheese had many flavor notes so I wanted to really play with the flavors on my tray, hence the pickled and spicy selections. I’m happy to say all of the flavors complimented one another quite well.
I set up two separate dishes as the additions of the pickled veggies and mushrooms had a bit of juice in them and I didn’t want the tastes to meld together on the tray. I also wanted to ladies to be able to differentiate between the flavors of each of the items without them running together.
To balance out the spice of the cheese and other snacks, I added a candy bar for the ladies to enjoy while watching the movie. I also got some cute little favor bags so that they could take some to go.
I am super obsessed with Moscow Mules at the moment! The cute brass cups, the fizziness of the ginger beer mixed with my favorite vodka and this hostess is in HEAVEN! The bar just looked so cute with the drinks as an addition.
I had so much fun planning this! The whole set-up literally took less than an hour tops! I encourage you to have a movie night of your own using these easy to execute idea’s .

I’m not sure if I’ve tried that cheese but my guess is yes. I buy so many different cheeses for eating and for entertaining. I’ll pick some up on my next shopping trip because it looks delicious. Very pretty photos, now I’m in a party mood.

I just love your blog! It feels so festive and fun! The pastel colors are my fav! Just recently my husband bought me a box with all these cute cheeses and beefs in it. I don’t think I’ve ever tried Castello cheese, but I’ll look for it when I’m at the grocery store. I love those copper cups too, super cute! x!

I’m salivating at the thought of cheese and crackers! Being dairy allergic is seriously the worst so I can’t say I’ll be sampling these yummy cheeses any time soon, but I love how you set everything up! You have some serious entertainment skillz 😀 When my friends and I get together we usually end up walking to the taco truck near my house, lol.

What a fun girls night in! This time of year I get invited to a lot of social events and naturally I gravitate towards the food because I love good food and I like to photograph the spreads. Not sure if I have tried Castello cheese but I will be on the lookout for it at the store this holiday season.

I really can’t stop looking at those copper glasses. I love them! They’re gorgeous. The food looks great too but I’m kind of mug/cup enthusiast and they’re great! Thanks for sharing 🙂

I would LOVE to go to a party like this – your spread looks AMAZING! I’ve never tried a Moscow Mule but I know they are all the rage these days. And you can’t go wrong with cheese! I think what I like most is that you’ve created an environment where your friends will feel welcome and loved! Well done!

Woops! That was typed in the wrong spot! Sorry – I meant to say that you did an awesome job pulling the party together in a short amount of time. I think you found the right balance between sweet, savory, and candy. Yum!

I’ve been seeing brass mules a lot lately…in the stores…online…and mentioned in blogger posts. They are very eye-catching. I love the cheese, olive and ect plate that you made. Cute ‘Cheers’ graphic you put out there too.
