I recently had the pleasure of attending the 40th annual birthday celebration for the Richstone Family Center and can I tell you I partied harder than I’ve partied in such a long long time.
I danced the night away, ate some amazing food, met some really awesome people AND it was all for a good cause! Just to give you a little background on Richstone- they are a family center that is dedicated to preventing and treating child abuse, strengthening families, and preventing violence in families, schools and communities. This wonderful organization offers free parenting classes and other services to children from birth to 18 and for parents in their teens to grandparents in their sixties. Richstone has been recognized as a neighborhood family center by ICAN (Los Angeles County Inter-agency Council on Child Abuse and Neglect). Since that time, Richstone has expanded its staff from six to more than 135, increased the number of programs offered; expanded the area of service from Hawthorne to include the southwest corner of Los Angeles County and the Greater South Bay; increased the number of sites offering services to include six school districts, opened a Transitional Living facility and a satellite office in Torrance. If that’s not something to celebrate I don’t know what is, and celebrate we did.
Rocking out to the live sounds of Night Owl Productions, everyone was on the dance floor the whole night! I’d even made a joke on my Instagram page about how I’d come to the event looking super chic and left looking like a total geek (head over to my Instagram to see the before and after shots). But none of that mattered at all because everyone was having a great time and that didn’t matter at all!
Some of the best restaurants were on hand as well serving some of the best that their menu’s had to offer. From lobster rolls to waffles, and turkey meatballs every selection was more than delicious! Bluewater Grill, The Standing Room, Absolution Brewing Company and King Harbor Brewerie among others kept us all full throughout the evening.
The event was a complete success and I’d like to sincerely thank Richstone Family Centers for having Weekends With Winter cover the event. For further information about how you too can donate to this worthy cause click here.
