It was a “Hair Bows or Bow Ties?” theme for two of my best friends’ baby shower this past weekend.  Because they chose to wait to find out the sex of their baby, it was up to me to deliver a shower as rich in originality and personality as mommy and daddy-to-be.
Traditionally, when a couple has chosen to wait to find out the sex of their baby, they become overloaded with neutral colors (yellow’s, greens, purples…snooooze). But for this event, I wanted to steer clear of such custom and integrate their decision to wait to find out the sex of their baby into their theme and color palette. Hence, the birth of my idea,  “Hair Bow’s Or Bow Ties?”.

Milk BottlesChapstick Baby Shower Favor I tried to incorporate this theme in creative ways throughout the shower. From the milk bottle display with hair bows and bow tie labels, to the chapstick party favors.  Of all the props used for the “Hair Bows or Bow Ties?” theme, the banner that hung over the buffet table with the shower title was my favorite.

I’d had plans to create a one of a kind dessert buffet that housed my cupcakes, cake pops, candy and cake, but at the last moment was told that I couldn’t use the full size buffet table. This meant I had to improvise. I broke the 2 tables up and I think even with the improvisation things turned out great!

It is always a nice touch to take away a memory from any event. As such, I framed the couple’s sonogram so guests could sign it and make their predictions! It turned out to be a great talking piece.

One of my favorite things about this event were the flowers that my good friend, Joel, created. I’d been on Pinterest and seen the trend of spray painting mason jars to use as nice centerpieces, and I really wanted to try that out. This baby shower was the perfect opportunity to use the idea. The arrangements were seriously beyond beautiful and guests were clammering to take them home!
