I look at you in awe and can’t believe that you are mine Elliott Jagger. I love absolutely everything about you but here are some of my most favorite…
The way you wake up smiling and full of kisses. Your kisses are the best and you grab my face with both hands and give me the sweetest smooch and make sure to say mmmmmUAH right after.
I love the way you love your Daddy and Brother. Your face lights up when they enter the room and you’ve been known to squeal with excitement. One morning you jumped out of my hands and ran to the door when they entered and I couldn’t help but sob with gratitude that you have them to love you back equally.
You are totally obsessed with a cartoon called “Akili and Me” .When we start to sing the theme song “Hey hey hey it’s the letter of the day” your whole face lights up! You’ve begun singing “Hey hey hey” when you want to watch Akili. I made it the theme of your first birthday because you love watching her so much!
You are super independant and once you started walking you went straight to running. I love that you are fearless and growing at YOUR own pace.
Our favorite thing to do together is watch The Family Feud. Maybe you understand the importance of family already, or maybe you like competition, or maybe you just dig Steve Harvey’s mustache. Whatever it is, I love that we share that together. It a part of our evening routine and it helps us connect after being apart all day.
You’ve already traveled so much! We went to Las Vegas, Orlando Florida and have had multiple trips to Palm Springs. You are the best travel buddy and go with the flow. You have made my first traveling experience with you, a breeze! I can’t wait to go on more adventures.
I joke that you aren’t easily impressed because we went to Disneyland this year and you barely smiled! I take that as a sign that you know what you like and I want to expose you to so much more.
Everyone who meets you instantly falls in love with you. You have a welcoming warm spirit and watching you build relationships with other children warms my heart. You lean in for hugs or kisses and you instantly light up when there’s another tiny human around. I know you’re your own person but I like to think that perhaps you’ve taken after me and have a love for building bonds with friends.
One year has flown by and I am enjoying seeing your growth. It is an honor to be your Mother. Sometimes when you’re sleeping I stare in amazement that our paths collided. I try to stay in the present but I often wonder how the road we pave will begin to look. Will it be rocky in some places or smooth throughout? I know the answer is a bit of both, and I look forward to seeing how we grow through it.
I love you so much Elliott Jagger, Happy Birthday!
