I’ve been working from home for the last 2 months and when I started, I put little effort into what I wore or how I looked. This was a huge shift from my in-office approach to fashion, but I thought, why put in the effort when no one will see me (from the waist down) or probably cares.
That all changed when one morning a few weeks ago, I woke up with an extra bit of energy and decided to put on a little makeup. It was nothing extravagant and so much more paired down than my pre-pandemic makeup routine -just a bit of concealer, mascara, and highlighter. But the reaction from my co-workers during our virtual meetings was overwhelming. While everyone kept talking about how pretty I looked and that I had the “pregnancy glow”, I kept thinking how Kylie Jenner should really change the name of the highlighter I was using to “Pregnancy Glow”.
I admit it, I was totally flattered by the praise and really enjoyed the fact that I wasn’t avoiding looking at my face in that tiny window during video calls. So, I decided to kick my work from home image up a notch. I put a bit more effort into my look and even started to implement “dress day” (which has morphed into dress day’s) the day I reserved to wear my most girly, confidence inducing, dresses in my closet.
This small change in my work from home approach has made me feel more productive and has brought a sense of normality to a very abnormal time in my life.
So this week I’m sharing my work from home wardrobe with the hopes of inspiring you to create your own. It doesn’t need to be formal or look like mine (although if you’d like to buy some of my pieces I’ll link them in the photos), it just needs to make you feel good. Because at the end of the day aren’t we all searching for ways to just FEEL GOOD during these unusually stressful and trying times?
Here we go…
