6 Ways I Slay

in Inspiration, Winter Review's on 30/05/17

I’ve been binge watching shows on Netflix lately (as you can see from this post) and I just ran across one that has gotten me to start thinking about how I’ve been killing it on the blogging front this year.

Queen of the South stars Alice Braga as poor Teresa Mendoza who falls in love with a member of a successful drug cartel, hoping the love will help her rise above the hopelessness she feels in her life. When it doesn’t happen, she is forced to flee the country after her boyfriend is murdered. She seeks refuge in America, where she teams up with an unlikely person from her past to take down the leader of the drug ring that is after her. Teresa ends up starting her own drug empire, becoming one of the world’s wealthiest women in the process. With her success, she discovers that money doesn’t fix all of her problems, and she can only depend on herself if she wants to stay one step ahead of others and stay alive.

I love a show that has strong female characters and watching Teresa Mendoza slay it on Queen of the South has gotten me to thinking about how I’m slaying it in my own life. As women we can be so hard on ourselves, there’s always something we can be doing better, but do we ever think about what we’re doing right? It’s important to grow and challenge ourselves but it’s also important to pat ourselves on the back every once in a while, so this post is dedicated to me today and the 6 ways I slay!

  1. I’m blogging more consistently:

I fell off last year because I had a lot of projects I was juggling but I’ve come back super hard this year and I’m blogging about 2-3 times a week. For awhile there I forgot how good writing makes me feel. I was comparing myself to other bloggers and just judging my content so harshly. Well this yeah I’m saying forget that! I’m writing the content I want and I’m not going to follow anyone else’s “blogging rules”. I’m writing content that makes me happy and I’m staying true to my own voice.

  2. I’m working out and keeping active:

Working out has been at the forefront of my life for the last year and I make it a point to get in the gym at least 3-4 times a week. I’ve stayed true to that even when it means getting up at 5 AM to get my workouts in. I challenge myself in the gym and I feel SO great!

  3. I’ve started to travel more:

I had forgotten how much I loved to travel and kept having excuses as to why I wasn’t (not enough money, not enough time off from work) but I finally stopped making excuses last year and went on an amazing trip to Cancun for a friend’s birthday. Since then I’ve been to Cuba and I’m planning a trip to Morocco in November. I love to travel, it inspires me and recharges me so I’m no longer going to put it off!

  4. I’m moving:

I’ve wanted to move for quite some time but the thought of it was just too overwhelming. Well that all ended when I recently found a house that I am literally obsessed with and I’m just going to throw caution to the wind and do it! This move is big for me because I’ve been in my current place for 5 years, so I’ve accumulated a lot of stuff, however I’m moving into a better, much safer neighborhood, where I don’t have to circle the block 6 times for parking and did I mention IT’S A HOUSE?

  5. I’m killing it at my day job:

I took a new job almost a year ago and it was scary for me because#1 I would be one of only two people on a brand new team in a brand new department at a not so brand new company.  To say I was scared is an understatement. But I did it and I’m so happy I did because not only am I doing great but I love what I’m doing and I absolutely love my boss! I never thought that would be something I could ever say.

  6. I’m seeing someone I really like:

So as not to jinx it I won’t go into too much detail. But I met someone who is pretty awesome. He does what he says and says what he does, he’s a gentleman, a genuinely kind person and someone I can see a future with.

So enough about me, I want to hear from you guys! What are some ways you are currently slaying it at life? Pat yourself on the back and let me know in the comments below.

Oh, and don’t forget to tune into Queen of the South on  USA Network when it premiers June 8th! So you know what that means right? You still have time to binge watch season 1!
