She is an explorer, she loved to get everyone in the car and go on spontaneous road trips, her head was always in a book and she loved devouring information about cultures. Sure when she tried to recreate that beef bourguignon recipe she may have burned it a little (or a lot) but she spent all day doing it because she wanted to open her families eyes to something other than Hamburger Helper.
Some may have pegged her inquisitive nature as being “flighty or fickle” but you knew it was her thirst for knowledge and to live life vivaciously that really pulled her, and that perhaps, had she not decided to become your mother, she may have been off on more adventures (none of which involve shuttling you to your current interest of the month).
Cheers to the mothers who gave us wings to fly and didn’t tell us which direction to go. They are happy to receive nothing at all, the real gift being their children living the life they weren’t able to. Even though “things” mean nothing to the Mama World Traveler these are some things that may reignite that fire for exploration she may have lost.
