Finding things on the internet that are positive isn’t as hard as I imagined it was going to be when I started writing this series. Either I just love a ton of random things or there really are an abundance of really talented, incredibly smart, funny, insightful people (and animals) runnin thangs around the web. I’d like to think it’s the latter 😉
From writers who beautifully articulate the thoughts in my own head and the feelings in my own heart, to some really incredible new music,I’ve been noticing how talented folks are more than ever this week. Here are my picks…
Treat your Life with Tenderness By Elizabeth Gilbert
I follow author Elizabeth Gilbert on Facebook and each and every time she writes a post I’m amazed that she doesn’t save these little gems for her next book. Or maybe it’s just that she overflows with insight so there’s an abundance of it to go around? Whatever it is, file this post under one of her gems. The tenderness with which she talks about loving yourself is so insightful it makes you want to give YOU a great big hug. I’m here for you Elizabeth Gilbert and after reading this, I’m here for myself too.
So it’s weird how Adele has the ability to break my heart and make me love her at the same damn time! After taking some time off she’s back with her new single “Hello”. There’s no denying that she has a very specific sound, (this song is giving me major “Someone Like You” vibes.) but it’s a sound that I just don’t tire from listening to. The soul in her voice is palpable, there’s just no listening without feeling…something.
Morning Routines of Successful Women
This isn’t your typical “top ten” list of morning routines you should get in the habit of following. These are the actual routines of proven successful women, women like Anna Wintour and Arianna Huffington. Read it for some morning inspiration or just read it to look into what rich and successful women eat for breakfast. Whatever reason, it’s a good read.
How to Get Shit Done When You’re Totally Unmotivated
Ok so this post makes up for the top ten list the other one wasn’t. However where a lot of bloggers who regurgitate “no duh” information those lists, this one is pretty astute.
Creating a Cohesive Instagram Feed
Instagram is still a bear for me. I feel like my pictures are all over the place and they just don’t convey the ascetic I’m going for when I look at my page as a whole. I’m not attempting to create perfectly styled photos however I do want them to look pretty, and I want to capture real moments however I want my pictures to be cohesive. This post has been the only one I’ve found that gives me some clear insight and actionable tasks I can put to use to create the Instagram feed I want.
I love when bloggers are transparent about their lives. There are times when I feel like we get so caught up in making everything look perfect we forget that we also inspire people in our imperfection. This post isn’t so much creative in its approach, but it made me feel happy to know that the 2 major bloggers behind A Beautiful Mess experience the same bouts of clutter and procrastination as the rest of us.
I love artwork that captures the spirit of a woman. Whether it be portrait, painting or sculpture. Maybe that’s why this Etsy shop speaks to me. Nikis Groove creates beautiful water-color paintings that feature women of color in their day-to-day lives. I see myself and the woman I know and love in these paintings and I can’t wait to order a gallery wall full of them.

What a great idea. Definitely need as much positivity as possible on the web! It’s easy to find things if you are looking but wouldn’t it be so great if the positive things were more abundant than the negative! Really great, thanks for sharing.

I was so busy marketing and branding everyone’s instagram feed I didn’t do my own so I had to get on it right quick lol. That song when I heard…yassss I had it on repeat all weekend.

I love Adele’s song!! Her voice is magical! Even though it sounds like a sad song, I love the emotion it expresses. This morning my radio station played a mash up of Adele’s Hello and Lyonel Rich….OMG it was fabulous!! I can’t wait to look up the list of must remove words! I probably over use many of them! lol!

Getting motivated is different for everyone but I think that if you come up with a routine of what works for you then you’ll be able to get motivated a lot easier when you need to.
PS: Interesting philosophy! I just want to plan amazing parties, eat yummy food and create beautiful moments… love it!

I love these post! I am with you on loving Adele’s new song. That girl does it every time! Every time. Touches those heartstrings and makes you feel things you never felt (or maybe have been hiding.. ha ha). The video is beautiful too! I needed the Instagram help so the website was a lot of help! I feel like I don’t have time to just read blogs lately. I know that sounds weird but I’m on the web but I’m not enjoying it, if that makes sense. My goal is to read and just enjoy the post I come across.

This sure is a great idea! There’s no doubt that the Internet is filled with negative things, but this does not mean we can’t find something positive. Maybe, it’s just a mixture of good and evil, I suppose. As this might be the case, I’m happy that you took the time to create a post like this. It takes the right motivation and perspective to channel out the negative and just inhale the positive. I’m looking forward to more positive posts from your website. Well done!

What a fun round up of motivation! Secret: I’ve been avoiding listening to Adele’s new song until I can listen to it uninterupted and truly appreciate it. I’ve changed the radio station just to avoid hearing it because I don’t want my first time to be half-way through and not really paying attention. Is that weird!?

I’m so glad that Adele is back! I really do like her latest song and I even like the video too. She has a mesmerizing voice and I hope that there is much more to come from her!

Love your list, and that Adele song is so popular right now. I definitely need to read the article about getting work done when you are totally unmotivated – I feel that all of the time haha 😀 Something that brings joy to my life weekly is eating, and in NYC I can do so much of that, so I am very happy!
