I have to say I am a total outdoor summer concert pro! I’ve been attending the Long Beach Jazz Festival since the age of 12 and make it a point to attend at least one of the famed shows at the Hollywood Bowl summer concert series. My friends will attest to the fact that I know how to pack a proper (and delish) lunch, I’ve even been know to sneak the occasional guest in every now and again( but shhh that’s just between us). Fact is, I’m prepared every year for the wide range of outdoor concerts Los Angeles has to offer. But what’s all that knowledge and experience worth if you can’t impart it on others? So today I’m giving you the items I must have in my bag for any outdoor summer concert.
U by Kotex: It sucks to be on your period when you have an outdoor summer concert to look forward to, however U by Kotex® offers a full line of feminine care products for periods including pads, liners and tampons. The protection is outstanding and keeps you one step ahead. U by Kotex® Ultra Thin pads with 3D Capture Core* and the Xpress DRI* cover offer crazy fast absorption to help stop leaks! Not only will protect you from the embarrassment of leaks, but the cute packaging is so unassuming, so there’s no need to worry in the event your purse accidentally spills open!
Sunglasses: I’m sure this is a no brainer, but it’s also one of the things that are forgotten after you’ve been busy planning all of your other essentials. Not only do your shades block the sun, but they also allow you the freedom to side eye the those overly thirsty fellas who automatically think linen and sandals make them Gods gift to women.
Chinese Fan: Hot isn’t an applicable enough description for the type of heat you experience at an outdoor concert, I think HELL is more proper. For that reason, it is imperative that you carry a fan with you at all times.
Baby Wipes: Outdoor concerts = outdoor restrooms, and those outdoor restrooms just aren’t that clean. However, carry baby wipes with you to mask that special port-a-pottie smell, clean your bum, and keep you from touching the germ filled doors. Aside from its use in port-a-potties, baby wipes are perfect to use for spills occurred when making the ever difficult concert plate.
Hand Sanitizer: Port-a-Potties, less than pristine venues, and food handling are the obvious reasons why this is important to pack.
Phone: The biggest lesson I’ve learned in my concert going experience is that nobody plans things perfectly. Keep your cell phone charged and available to not only capture precious moments but to keep in touch with friends who just don’t seem to show up on time.
Lotion: If you’ve been using those baby wipes, and hand sanitizer, there’s no doubt that your super clean hands need some moisture. Invest in a hand lotion to ease the ash.
So these are my summer concert essentials, do you have any of your own? How are you liking the new U by Kotex line? What’s your favorite/ least favorite thing about the brand? I’d love to know in the comments below!

I am always intrigued in what females carry in their hand bags! I have never owned one! it is currently freezing here, so I did have a little bit of a chuckle re your Chinese fan, but realize it is hot where you are now! Thanks for sharing what you carry around!

Sometimes I carry with me two pairs of sunglasses because the one is built for more function while the other is for fashion. 🙂 Chinese fan is so cool because it’s bigger than the regular (Spanish kind). Baby wipes, more than dry tissue paper, are a lifesaver and it’s definitely an essential in my bag as well!

I love ‘a look in my bag’ posts! Great list of festival gear, though I’d definitely go for a Diva Cup over Kotex, even less hassle and more discreet.
And don’t forget your sunscreen! I did one year at the Newport Folk Festival and lived to regret it, I didn’t think my skin would ever stop peeling, and I’ve got sunspots as a souvenir 🙁

I am a huge concert goer in the summertime as well. Your bag is almost identical to mine! Wet wipes are a must, I don’t know what I would do without them. Being outside without sunglasses is just miserable for me so a must have for me as well.

Ah these are (ONE OF) my favourite types of blog posts or even YouTube videos to see/read. I feel like every one has something different to offer, or tricks of the trade in their purses and I can get some ideas on what to do with all of my stuff inside my purse. Even though I’m an organized person and all!

I love to go to outdoor summer concerts! We are lucky enough to be able to go quite often a local venue. This list is super similar to what would be in my bag as well, plus a huge bottle of sunscreen.

I am not a big concert goer but this list is great for anytime of the year, even the fan which I love that idea. And the baby wipes is a fantastic idea no matter the time of the year.
